CAIR-MISSOURI work and advocacy has a direct impact on preserving civil rights of American-Muslims - relief for the victims, improving policies to accommodate religious practices and eliminate discriminatory measures, and empowering individuals and institutions to protect their rights.

CAIR-MISSOURI organizes press conference and issues dozens of press releases and media advisories annually to ensure that Muslim voices on vital issues and current events are represented in the mainstream media.

CAIR-MISSOURI aims to educate and build bridges between Muslims and diverse communities, establish partnerships with other organizations, and bolster CAIR-Missouri's ability to serve its constituents in the Missouri Muslim communities.

St. Louis mosque holds first in a series of Ramadan meals

Some came to the Islamic Community Center in St. Louis on Thursday night to learn more about Islam.

But most came because they’d gone more than 14 hours without food.

Thursday marked the first of a series of public iftars, or meals that break the traditional fast during the Islamic lunar calendar month of Ramadan.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations partnered with local mosques to hold a series of “open door” informational sessions.

Thursday’s session began with talks by leaders, including CAIR Executive Director Faizan Syed and Imam Muhamed Hasic, a quiz and a question-and-answer session.

Members of the mosque gradually filtered in, as Syed counted down to sunset, joking that Ramadan was like “30 days of New Year’s.”
